Co-hosts for some of our hackathons
Ad Astra Group's Industrial Base Hackathons are monthly working sessions, across different U.S. cities, convening senior leadership and experts from government, capital, industry, and academia in the same room to identify and solve specific bottlenecks across America's critical supply chains.
Each participant holds a slice of the system that no one else in the room can see, and together they build a complete, shared picture of reality that doesn't exist anywhere else, making solutions legible enough for capital to flow, operators to act, and policy to change.
100 curated participants are placed on cross-domain teams, each assigned a specific bottleneck, and guided through root cause analysis and solution phases. Every hackathon intentionally spans multiple domains and critical sectors to surface the force multipliers, the upstream constraints that, if resolved, unblock the greatest number of downstream supply chains.
After each hackathon, Ad Astra Group conducts six weeks of further research and analysis. Outcomes are shared in our Results section and through an Industrial Base ecosystem knowledge graph. Each hackathon cycle builds on the last, making the patterns across the industrial base undeniable.

The Concept
hackathon prep
Crowdsource & Applications
Launch public bottleneck collection across industry, government, academia, associations and open applications to attend.
Map & Prioritize
Analyze and rank the top 100 bottlenecks impacting critical sectors; gather community feedback to assess urgency and opportunity.
Refine Focus Areas
Narrow down set of bottlenecks to a final list of 10 most impactful bottlenecks to go into our next hackathon with to design solutions for.
Release & Curate Teams
Announce a final list of bottlenecks to center our hackathon around, crowdsource final insights, and curate multidisciplinary hackathon teams.
Each hackathon builds on the last, creating a national feedback loop that
accelerates solutions
Welcome remarks, sponsor spotlight, mission and overview of bottlenecks to be addressed.
Where possible, we will kick off hackathons with an industrial site tour and invite grade school students.
Cross-domain teams of 4–6 tackle 8–10 bottlenecks—mapping root causes, analyzing technical, structural, financial, and regulatory barriers, and developing actionable solutions refined with support from experts throughout the day. All visual and audio captured for repository.
Policymakers, legal experts, and regulators triage related barriers and outline action paths for reform.
Subject-matter experts circulate between teams, including research assistants, seasoned operators, procurement and regulatory staff, DoD organizations, executive branch agencies, investors, lenders, end customers, and economic development groups.
A remote network of 200 experts available throughout the day to provide further guidance.
Teams present solutions in a 90-minute session to the room. Results feed into the national Bottleneck Tracker and public Results Report.
